| Beginning Quilting Class Suzy's Quilt Shop 111 6th Street Garland, Texas 75040 Instructor: Sharon Wilhelm Cost The class was $60.00 For 5 2 1/2 hour classes. My quilt supplies $116.00 Fabric, Quilts, Quilts, Quilts Book, Pins, Needles, Thread, Marking Tools, Batting, Scissors, Rotary Cutter, and Cutting Mat. The beginner quilting class covered: How to machine piece quilt blocks. How to rotary cut a quilt. How to applique onto a quilt. How to add sashing, corner squares and borders to a quilt. How to baste a quilt. How to mark and hand quilt. I really wanted to learn how to correctly make quilts. I love to sew and make all kinds of kids items. I thought learning how to quilt would enhance my business by adding quilted nap mats, quilted car seat covers and quilted shopping cart covers. The class is great so far, I am about to attend the third class. The instructor Sharon is fantastic. I have not only learned how to assemble quilt blocks, but have also picked up some great sewing/quilting tips. In the first two classes we learned how to select fabrics for our quilt- her technique is wonderful. I have been sewing for years and never knew how to choose fabrics in the way that she taught us. That in its self was totally worth the class fee. Then we learned how to rotary cut and piece each block. Having never quilted before I was incredible intimidated by this project, but so was everyone else in the class so it was nice knowing that we were all in the same boat. The beginning quilt sampler we made included 6 blocks. We made a bear paw block, swamp angel block, variable star block, wild goose chase variation block, fence rail block, and 54-40 or fight block. |

| Sharon taught us how to fold our fabric and lay it out before we cut it into the pieces to see if that is how we want our quilt block to be layed out. It makes choosing your block colors so easy!!! |
