Dogonit lawn treatment

It is springtime again and most people after the long winter indoors are ready to get out and get their lawns and gardens back into shape. One of the best parts, is perusing garden supply stores and catalogs looking for the new and or most reliable product to rebuild their lawn.

There are so many products on the market today, its almost impossible to try them all to see what works best. One of the most popular manures and turf builders (tons are advertised as guaranteed to rebuild and restore your lawn) is Dogonit lawn treatment, an innovative biodegradable product designed not only to restore your lawn but keep it healthy.

The everyday wear and tear upon your lawn caused by residual from pesticides used in treating bugs, soil erosion from the heavy rains, lack of or improper watering and the urine destruction left behind after a dog's visit, creates added stress to your lawn. Having a healthy lawn will be your best defense against this attack in the future.

Dogonit lawn treatment is a powerful garden soil technology developed to help fight yellow spots on your lawn caused by “burns” from pet urine. It also works on the edges of your turf exposed to salt residual from the road. Urine has a high content of nitrogen an end product of protein metabolism.

When applied in dilute form nitrogen in urine becomes a form of fertilizer and can be an asset to your lawn. However when applied in a concentrated form as in urine aimed directly on plants by a female dog, it becomes overly saturated with nitrogen and produces the burn effect seen as yellow spots on your lawn. Bermuda grass is especially susceptible to this.

Dogonit being totally organic is designed to heal your lawn in areas where it has been damaged by pet urine or salt accumulation. Once applied to these areas it will actually improve the quality of the soil by allowing more water, air and nutrients to get to the root of the turf thus replenishing it.

How does Dogonit work?

It is a pro-biotic complex of natural enzymes derived from plants. It works by stimulating natural soil enzymatic activity and breaking down the nitrogen properties of pet urine making it easy to be flushed out of tightly compacted soil. This breaking down process also helps to remove toxic compounds from the soil. This decreased toxicity stimulates healthy plant growth resulting in a healthy, greener, lush lawn.
This dual action power of the product heals the soil and burnt spots and prevent them recurring.

Reasons to use Dogonit lawn treatment

• It is designed to cure those unsightly yellow spots caused by pet urine on your green lawn.

• Restore and keeps your lawn healthy

• Helps to improve your soil

• Biodegradable compounds make it safe to use around children and pets

• Easy to use

Cost of lawn treatment.

Cost varies depending on size of container. Supplied in bottles with trigger spray caps, it comes in different sizes such as, 8 ounce bottle , 24 ounce bottle and 32 oz. concentrate. These can be found in most pet stores and those specializing in home and garden products. The prices offered are as follows:

Dogonit Lawn treatment 8 oz. $6.99

Dogonit Lawn Treatment 24 oz. $10.99 -12.99

Dogonit concentrate 32 oz. $22.99
Although priced somewhat higher, the best buy is the concentrate when working with larger areas.

How to use Dogonit?

Apply in 3 easy steps for a healthy lawn
1. Hold trigger and spray each burn spot approximately 4-5 inches in diameter
2. Apply 7-8 sprays directly on burn area
3. Flush area with water after spraying

For best results apply immediately pet urinates or as soon as yellow spot is discovered. Repeat process every 5-7 days or until the burnt area recedes and is replaced by new growth. A 32 oz concentrate container makes 1 gallon of the product. When treating larger areas it is recommended to use a hose and applicator with the flow rate set at 10:1 ratio of water to concentrate, for maximum benefit.

Care should be exercised to distribute sprays evenly and not over watering the lawn. On an average result should be forthcoming after one or two applications. Be sure the dogs have not “marked” the spot and continues to urinate in the treated areas; this will make the healing process for your lawn more difficult.

Turf Care and Reseeding Where the area has been severely damaged it may be necessary to sod or reseed the turf. To do so follow the instructions recommended for reseeding. Next treat the soil by spraying the ground and the seeds with Dogonit lawn treatment. This will help to detoxify the soil and provide better germination for the seeds.
